This is an autographed keepsake I took away from a performance by comedy legend and prop comic Gallagher, perhaps best known for smashing watermelons as part of his act. As I understand the story, when he performed at the State Theatre in Bay City, Michigan, he was specifically instructed not to do his signature "Sledge-O-Matic" sketch in the historic theater. That didn't stop him from bringing out a large plaster piggy bank and smashing it with a large wooden mallet. I don't think the theater director was happy. This was one of the larger pieces left after it shattered into hundreds of tiny pieces. Gallagher was one of the most popular American comedians during the 1980s.
