Horse Of A Different Color
Sometimes you don't realize you've struck photographic gold until you go back and look more closely at your outtakes and realize you've caught two politicians sitting in the crowd at a basketball game, and one of them — who earned a master's degree from Michigan State University — is wearing the rival school's colors and cheering them on. That would be Dan Smith, Washtenaw County commissioner, seen here in Michigan maize and blue, sitting next to state Rep. Mark Ouimet.

Kind Of Blue
The University of Michigan basketball team took on Penn State on Dec. 29 and came away with a 71-53 win as sophomore Tim Hardaway Jr. (#10) scored a season-high 26 points . It was their sixth win in a row and the Wolverines went on to beat Minnesota in their next game on New Year's Day. They also beat MSU in a close game this past week. The Wolverines now have a 15-4 record for the season and are 12-0 at home at Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor. See if you can spot "that guy" in the crowd.

Fighting The Irish
The University of Michigan football team hosted the Notre Dame Fighting Irish tonight in Ann Arbor for the first night game at the Big House. A large number of fans appeared highly intoxicated, and some of the more rowdy ones were handcuffed and taken away by police. Crazed chants of "go blue!" came from those wearing maize and blue. More choice words like "I hate you so much" and "get out of my town" were reserved for those wearing green. A wild finish led to a Michigan victory.
