Legends In Their Own Time
Tom Hayden, seated on the ground, and Ann Arbor resident Alan Haber, two of the original members of the 1960s radical group Students for a Democratic Society, watch a slideshow of old images from their SDS days at the University of Michigan. Hayden, now 72 and living in California, said he was glad to be surrounded by old friends and familiar faces from his college days in Ann Arbor. "I didn't think it was possible to organize a reunion of SDS, but I thought you could organize a reunion about Port Huron and then you could smuggle in everybody else," quipped Hayden, who gave a one-hour speech Thursday night reflecting on the 50th anniversary of the Port Huron Statement.
