The Final Stretch

This is what the nearly 300-foot stretch of Fifth Avenue in front of the downtown Ann Arbor library looked like on Wednesday. The road was supposed to be open by now but crews were still doing grading work in preparation for a new layer of asphalt, which is expected to be in place in the next week. DDA board member John Splitt said there was more extensive damage to the concrete underlay than expected when crews took off the asphalt and that held things up. The work is being done in relation to a new underground parking structure on the Library Lot.
